About Cai
At the end of 2021, I went through an extremely hard breakup. I was devastated and didn’t know how I would ever be okay again. I started questioning what I wanted from a significant other, what I deserved, and where my life was headed. I knew that I couldn’t possibly be the only one in this much pain, so I decided to start talking about it online.
On February 14th, 2022 (yes, on Valentine’s Day, quite ironic 😅), I posted my first WhyWithCai video on TikTok without any expectations. I just wanted to share my questions, thoughts, and feelings on life, relationships, and heartbreak.
It wasn’t long before strangers online began to relate to my content. They felt seen and heard, but most importantly, they felt a little bit less alone.
Today, my mission with WhyWithCai is to help you feel less alone in the world as you navigate relationship challenges and overcome heartbreak. I know what it’s like to feel betrayed. I know what it’s like to feel one-sided love. I know what it’s like to feel like you’re not enough.
Beyond social media, I create immersive, in-person experiences across Toronto that allow people to express themselves and connect with others. In 2025, I presented Letters to Your Ex as part of Nuit Blanche, an interactive installation that engaged nearly 4,000 participants. I will also be presenting a small-scale version of the same installation at Nuit Blanche 2026 in Toronto.
Later this year, I will be running a live storytelling event in Toronto, where 4 to 5 curated storytellers will share their heartbreak stories on stage.
Through writing, storytelling, and community activations, my work continues to help people feel less alone in the world and transform personal heartbreak into collective healing.
